The PIAS protocols extend landing privileges without following normal protocols in extreme circumstances. PIAS is an abbreviation for Pilot Immediate Assistance Signatories, however, it is more commonly remembered as the Port In A Storm protocols by student pilots.

The Yxtrang have been known to deny the PIAS protocols. Or at least, pilots invoking these protocols have never again been heard from. However, diplomatic negotiation has argued that the Yxtrang planets are military bases, which may not necessarily follow civilian procedures.
